The villa itself was pleasant and well maintained. The garden is nice and the pool lovely. However, this was spoiled somewhat by large numbers of glass bottles that were piled up next to the back door ready for recycling and that remained there throughout our week's stay. Also, the bbq was filthy and un-usable. However, what really let the villa down was the location. Villa Asteras is set on a busy main road. The nearby beach was very scruffy - not somewhere you'd want to spend much time. The sea bathing right below the villa was a drop from a concrete jetty into rocky water and only suitable for strong swimmers - definitely not kids. The villa is also flanked on one side by what appeared to be a scrap yard. We came away disappointed, especially as we'd had a fabulous holiday in another Meon Villa in Majorca the year before.

We are very happy to hear Sally liked the villa and welcome her comments. In response to the bottles, we have passed this issue on to the villa owner to ensure these are checked and removed, whenever the maid visits, and that the barbecue is also checked. With regards to the Asteras and its location, the villa backs onto the road that runs from Polis to Pomos. It isn't a very busy road, and at that point is running through the small village of Argaka (this is only a 2 lane road, nothing more), with all the balconies and areas of the house that are used, facing the other way, towards the sea. In over 3 years of having this villa in our range, no one else has ever mentioned problems with the road. We are aware there is some open land to one side of Asteras, but this is totally screened from Asteras with a high fence and netting, so is not visible unless you go up on the top balcony and specifically tried to look over? The swimming below the villa is only really suitable for competent swimmers - which is why we don't describe this as a beach. However, as I'm sure you will agree, just having the sea at the bottom of your garden is a huge bonus! With regards to the beach, again this is the first time anything has been questioned on its standard. Please note, there is an alternative large sandy beach on the way from Argaka to Aghia Marina, which is only a short distance from the nearest beach quoted in the brochure.

A lovely pool in a mature garden ending at the edge of the sea. A nice house with drawbacks. The ground floor 4 bedrooms have only large patio doors for ventilation so at night with no fly screens (anywhere in the house) nor security doors, it was necessary to sleep (particularly for the children) with doors locked shut. Contrary to the brochure there is no phone. Safes were all non-functioning using pin numbers (flat batteries). Keys for not all safes were available. The lockable gate was non existent and the stone jetty is in fact a boat slip extending some 8 feet towards the sea but does not reach it, and is unsafe as it is completely undermined. The pool lights were wrongly timed and despite a visit from Pool maintentance remained wrong. Kitchen equipment was old plus three cupboards contained old mouldy food. Access could not be gained until after 15:35.The dog kennels in the neighbour's garden was not a plus. Sue, the Meon Concierge, was a credit to Meon and the cleaners were cooperative and pleasant.
