We were highly impressed with this villa and Meon Villas in general, particularly as we had never used them before. The villa is a good size for six people, has two wonderful courtyards one for barbecuing and the other by the pool. The pool is a good size and the only negative is that the solar-powered heating system never got the pool warmer than 18 degrees, so we couldn't take our six-month old daughter for a dip. The concierge service was exceptional. We arrived and were unable to find the travel cot or high chair that we had ordered, and the rep rushed round to get them to us, even bringing a bottle of wine by way of apology. It was also very useful that she told us that there was a bank holiday the week we were there. The maid service was also excellent - making beds and taking away rubbish without being intrusive. The village of Carvoiero is very nice, though you can't get away from the full English breakfast type places! If you are after authentic Portuguese though there are plenty of places to try. There is also a market off one of the side streets offering fresh veg, fresh fish and bread it was a shame we only found it on the last day of our hols! We also booked our flights and car hire through Meon, and they were able to get us the exact flights we wanted. We had a bit of trouble with the car hire in that the local car hire place couldn't see that we had booked a child car seat, I had to ring them and Meon a couple of times to sort it out, but it was fine in the end. I rang Meon a couple of times before the holiday to check on a couple of things and was most impressed that on one of these occasions the MD answered the phone - they were busy so he stepped in to help ? and this is exactly the sort of attitude you find at Meon. I will definitely use them again.

A very spacious villa set in a quiet location within relatively easy distance of the town of Carveoiro. Villa is starting to look a little tired in appearance and would benefit from some redecoration but nevertheless is decent value for money. Much of the large garden area is wasted but this adds to the privacy. A group of tall conifer trees could do with significant pruning as they block the afternoon sun off the pool which could do with the sun's heat to warm the water. There are numerous good restaurants in Carveoiro area. O'tasco's and the sdjoining Chinese are worth a visit. As for all day to day general purchases the Intermarche supermarket provides everything you need. Meon's Concierge service is first class!!
