Bournella is an absolutely stunning luxury villa designed for a couple (which not many are). Reached by a steep track (4x4 essential) through the olive groves about 30 minutes from Corfu airport, this villa is in the hills overlooking the sea and village below. There are a number of restaurants on the seafront, ideal for drinks or dinner. A petrol station & decent supermarket are closeby for all the essentials. The special touches in the villa including HD cinema projector & screen on your deck make sure that you'll never want to leave! The villa is designed for outdoor living as the kitchen eating area is open to the elements - great for balmy nights but not to great when it rains (which it did a couple of times when we were there) as the indoor lounge room is fairly small.
Villa Bournella is a Fantastic concept with great ideas and terrific views. However some of the finishing is poor i.e the decking where the kitchen is located is bowing at the ends because some of them are only fitted with one screw, which means you get high points which you can hit your feet on and get splinters (I got two). The jetty on the pool looks great but the timber needs rubbing down underneath as on most of the planks there are rough saw cuts with splinters hanging down. There are no fixings to put the shower heads on the wall so you have hold it when you shower which is stupid. The en suite shower room is good to look at but when you do use the shower, water goes everywhere because there is no shower door, I know it is supposed to be a wet room but its to small for this feature. No one left the card to operate the sky TV, the air conditioning unit was in the lounge - there should have been one in the bedroom. We loved the home cinema and some of the other features but feel that the money we spend was not worth it, this is our seventh villa holiday with you, the most expensive but the most disappointed.
Meon's Response:
Like Mr Newman, we completely agree that the Bournella is a fantastic concept with great ideas and terrific views. The Bournella was our first villa to sell out completely in 2008 and the feedback has been brilliant. With 2008 being the Bournellas first year, it did encounter some teething problems which will be rectified for 2009. We thank Mr Newman for his comments and continued loyalty towards Meon.
