Cyprus is very Greek in character but happily familiar to us British with English spoken almost everywhere. They even drive on the same side of the road!All Meon's Cyprus villas are based around the Western tip and the town of Paphos. A medium sized historic town built around a lovely harbour, Paphos boasts the international restaurants and shops that one would expect. West of Paphos itself the lovely national park area of Akamas is unspoilt. Its beaches are home to the turtles which come ashore here to nest.
Just west of Paphos is the resort area of Coral Bay, home to a lovely golden sand beach and many hotels and villas. In Cyprus you'll find something to interest everyone; the seaside resort of Latchi, grown from a small fishing village, is quieter and less developed but nevertheless offers a good selection of beaches and tavernas. Further along the coast the more remote areas of Argaka and Pomos beckon to those in search of peace and quiet in lovely surroundings.
Cyprus villa holidays are also perfect for those in search of activity and culture; large, cosmopolitan and modern towns with all the facilities that one would expect, the Troodos Mountains are high enough to support a ski centre in winter and make an ideal place to escape to in the blistering heat of full summer, and there are plenty of beautiful old monasteries, ancient sites and museums to be visited.
The Cypriots enjoy life! Food and drink are a national pastime in Cyprus and Cypriot meals seem to go on for ever, with more and more dishes appearing and constant toasting with the local wine! Based on the Greek cuisine, Cypriot cuisine also has some very interesting Eastern influences, and the fresh fish and shellfish are excellent. Be prepared to leave your villa in Cyprus a few pounds heavier!
