The largest of the seemingly endless islands of Greece, if you crave variety on your villa holidays, Crete boasts a myriad of resorts that really do offer something for everyone.
On the west coast, the historical town of Chania is built around a harbour, and has beautiful Venetian buildings to amble around. To the west of Chania, there are glorious expanses of sandy beach, all backed by the White Mountains. At the other end of the island, to the east of Heraklion Crete's capital, lies cosmopolitan Aghios Nikolaos and nearby Elounda, which has gained a reputation in recent years for being the smartest and most exclusive resort, with a plethora of excellent hotels, and some of the most luxurious Crete villas.
