Villas in Zante
The southernmost of the Ionian Islands, Zante villa holidays are best known for the much photographed Smugglers' Cove and colourful nightlife in the southern resort of Laganas.
But much of the island has a very traditional character, with many villas in Zante positioned to show off this rural, green island of dramatic cliffs, unspoilt pine forests, and scalloped coastline.
Zante Town is a very pretty capital to discover from your Zante villa, built around a bustling harbour, with hidden restaurants behind colonnaded arcades, cafés, and lots of smart shops. As in most Greek towns, people-watching is a favourite pastime from the town's pavement cafes.
There are plenty of golden sandy shores to lay your towel on, with one of the favourites at Gerekas. Affectionately known as 'Turtle Beach', this is where the Caretta Caretta turtles come to nest.
The Vasilikos peninsula is one of the prettiest areas on the island. Its dramatic coastal scenery, with areas of pine forest, sandy beaches and some excellent waterside tavernas are great for feasting on fresh fish and local specialities.
There is plenty to do and see on a Zante villa holiday, from the waterpark to boat trips to the Blue Caves, Kefalonia, and even ancient Olympia on the mainland.
