The charm of villa holidays in Menorca lies in its secluded coves and golden sandy shores; Santo Tomas, Cala'n Bosch and Son Bou are just some of the head-turners. But when you're not stretched out on your beach towel, Menorca offers many other distractions.
On your villa holiday in Menorca, the seafood is fresh and delicious and the lobster stew, calderata de llagosta, is a speciality. The potential for creative self-catering is excellent too; take fish from the market, add a generous helping of mayonnaise, born in Mahon, and round off the meal with some 'queso Mahon', the delicious local cheese.
There's plenty of nightlife to lure you out of your Menorca villa. Definitely worth a visit is Coves d'en Xoroi, where a quiet drink admiring the views during the day transforms into an upbeat nightclub until sunrise. For a more low-key evening, pull up a chair at one of the waterfront restaurants or tapas bars that buzz in the warm summer evenings.
To tempt you away from your Menorca villa, it is well worth paying a visit to Monte Toro for panoramic views of the island. And, not forgetting Mahon, Menorca's capital, a beautiful city to wander around and wind down with a lingering tapas meal.
